Turned WhatsApp conversations into structured orders for small service businesses.
The problem
Small businesses in Uganda already run on WhatsApp, but a chat thread is not a record. Jobs get agreed and then lost in scrollback.
What was built
- Webhook receiver with signature verification and de-duplication
- Guided question flow using numbered replies, not free-text parsing
- Gemini intent layer, confidence-gated with a fallback to asking
- Pesapal payment links settled directly to each business
- Owner dashboard for orders, conversations, and reply approval
How a message was processed
Signed webhook
Every inbound message is signature checked and de-duplicated before anything else runs.
Business routing
A short code maps the conversation to one business, and every later query is scoped to it.
Intent extraction
Gemini classifies the message and extracts fields. Below a confidence threshold the result is discarded.
Structured flow
Numbered questions collect what is still missing, so the order never depends on parsing free text.
Order and payment
The order is written to Postgres, then a payment link is issued against that business's own account.
